Finish Line is a work of fiction, inspired by the terrible events of April 15, 2013, when two self-important malcontents placed bombs among the cheering spectators, just before the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The story is entirely fiction, but the underlying emotions are very real. Having spent many, many hours at and around the exact location of the Boston Marathon bombings, the author watched events as they unfolded with heartbreaking empathy for everyone, calculating the utter senselessness of this act of terror, the relentlessly painful loss of precious lives, and the indiscriminate devastation felt by so many, in ways most could hardly imagine. Bostonians and others touched by this horrible act will press on with their lives because they instinctively understand how important it is to actively cast off the mantle of being a victim, especially in a situation like this, but reclaiming their innocence - if possible - takes time...
