This special re-print edition of Martin Doyle's book "The Illustrated Book of Poultry" is one of the most monumental books ever published on poultry. Written in 1857, this classic text on poultry contains a treasury of knowledge on poultry as they were bred in the 19th Century. Featured are insights into the backgrounds of numerous breeds of chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks and others, many of them now seldom seen and even some considered extinct. Included are details on Cochins, Spanish Fowl, Dorkings, Polish Fowl, Frizzles, Rumpkins, Game Fowl, Hamburgs, Assorted Bantams including Sebrights and much more. Also included is a treasure trove of information on keeping and breeding Chickens, Waterfowl and others. At over 400 pages, this is one of the most thorough historic books ever published on poultry. Illustrated with rare vintage plates. Note: This edition is a perfect facsimile of the original edition and is not set in a modern typeface. As a result, some type characters and images might suffer from slight imperfections or minor shadows in the page background.
