Escritora americana, Karin Slaughter estudió en la Universidad de Georgia State y trabajó como diseñadora y vendedora antes de poder dedicarse por completo a la literatura. Es conocida por sus novelas de intriga y suspense, con las que ha logrado un gran éxito internacional.

Slaughter comenzó su carrera en 2001 iniciando la serie de novelas ambientadas en el Condado de Grant y que ya han sido traducidas a treinta idiomas. Además, su serie protagonizada por el agente especial Will Trent consiguió una gran popularidad y la autora mezcló los personajes en una única historia a partir del año 2009.
