Benjamin Hadley was hypnotized 15 years ago at a secret government-funded bio-weaponry Institute - but he's now remembered the illegal bio-warfare research and written an incriminating exposé. Flying to the Frankfurt Bookfaire to sign a world-rights contract, he encounters the startling female lead of the novel, Helvetica (Helvy) just before his agent is murdered in his booth. Accused of the murder, Benjy and Helvy knock the Frankfurt police chief unconscious and escape. Determined to find the real murderer, they get sucked into a heinous plot (based on the American bio-warfare research) to reduce world population through a bug-spread virus that sterilizes women in the tropics - supposedly to save the world from ecological disaster.
