The MacMurchiads have been invited on a tour of the Trans-Mars Observatory by their relative Lorene Murchison. No sooner than they land in the TMO's shuttle bay, mysterious events begin to happen. At first these events appear to be either oversites and/or natural occurrences. Since the family cannot leave the vessel and return home, they choose to do what they can to protect the lives of everyone aboard the TMO. Some of the events tend to mirror human history's past. So the family uses knowledge they learned while living during the late twentieth century combined with the knowledge they gained during their nearly five centuries of hibernation to solve problems and bring some of those behind those problems. Considering the positive changes their bodies underwent during hibernation, the family can handle problems faster than anyone else. Despite this fact they find that even with knowledge and extreme gifts they cannot save everyone from those who use past ideas and tactics for their own purposes. This is definitely not the future the family had hoped for, but they will do their best to educate others how beautiful the future can be if the solar populace will look at each other in a loving family way.
