The second novel of the Sommersett series finds Ashlyn and Lorien's relationship now smoulders and burns with a new-found intensity, having shared their complete selves with each other. Their plans of forming a band finally takes hold, enlisting Elijah on bass guitar and the newest recruit, Matty, on drums. Lorien's enthusiasm and closer proximity to his dream makes him deaf to Ashlyn's dislike of the dodgy Matty, only seeing his goals coming to fruition. The gigs start coming and the success and excitement finally draws Ashlyn and Elijah into its net. Success can be a problem, and one drug-induced night Lorien is caught fooling around with a barmaid and Ashlyn leaves the venue under Elijah's caring wing, heartbroken. However, other forces are in play and Ashlyn and Lorien are about to get hauled over the coals for different reasons. Does it matter now that they are no longer together? Can she ever forgive him, or has Lorien outgrown her?
