Dr. Sotiria Theoharis is Greek American born in San Jose, CA and residing in Chalkida, Greece. She began her study into medicine with a psycho-biology and literature background at UCSC. She moved into the social sciences in particular sociology with interests in history and philosophy, at Durham University. Her work was based on the science studies of medicine. In particular, she was interested in the birth or the construction of modern medical bodies: Cyborgs. The subsequent master's thesis is titled: 'Birthing Pains: How Do Cyborgs Shape Medical technologies, Bodies Objectives.' This thesis was supervised by Prof. Fuller at Durham University. The main premise is that Cyborgs are polymorphic and not yet visibly different from humans in part because cyborgic technologies have just been developed, in part because we are not trained to see how the post-human arises.
