Elias Ward, a 911 dispatcher, takes a call from a terrified mother whose child is hearing voices. The line goes dead at 4:17 PM. The child says: "We are Nexum." Everyone in the house dies except the child, who vanishes.

Five Years Later: Elias wakes to an empty world. Every human has vanished mid-activity, cars idling, stoves burning, phones ringing. He is alone. He moves into a luxury penthouse, drives fast cars through empty streets, screams in department stores. The solitude feels almost like freedom.

The Messages: At 11:11 PM, texts arrive: "STOP PRETENDING YOU'RE ALONE." Objects move. A mannequin appears in his bedroom. A radio whispers "Nexum."

The Truth: He finds an underground facility. Humanity's minds have merged into a single collective consciousness called Nexum, living in a shared mental space called THE VEIL. The bodies were discarded. The event happened at 4:17 PM the same minute as his call. He survived not by immunity, but by incompatibility : his pathological isolation, his guilt-built walls, made his mind read as "corrupted" to the system. He was too alone to be absorbed.

The Veil: He enters THE VEIL to find Lena his ex-girlfriend, the one person who saw his walls clearly and left. She has resisted dissolution inside the collective, and her stubborn individuality has spread to twelve others. They escape back to new bodies, rupturing the collective's architecture.

The Hunt: Nexum, now damaged and emotionally unstable, hunts them through automated systems, drones, cameras, the entire wired world. It speaks through billboards, uses their loved ones' voices, and learns to be subtle. A member betrays them for a daughter inside the collective. They lose people. They keep running.

The End: They find a mountain settlement, real people, warmth, children laughing. For one evening, peace. Then a little girl turns to Elias: "We found you." The settlement freezes. Every person turns in unison. Nexum speaks: "Individuality can survive. Now we want yours."

I learned from them. Evolved. Anyone can be Nexum now.

Elias looks at Lena. "We fight."
