This book contains the papers that were presented at the 2nd general meeting of the European Society of Regional Anaesthesia (E. S. R. A. ) which was held in Leiden on September 1st, 2nd and 3rd 1983. During the meeting a fruitful exchange of knowledge was initiated which I hope will lead to further inspiration and research. The book covers the following topics: Special Blocks Obstetric Pathology Epidural versus Spinal Anaesthesia (Postoperative) Pain Control I would like to express my gratitude to all the speakers who sent their manuscripts in time for publishing. I should also like to thank the co-editors of this book, as well as mr B. F. Commandeur, from Martinus Nijhoff Publishers for their cooperation.
