English summary: Despite efforts to create a "Euro Mortgage", mortgage rights are still regulated in national legislation only. This book analyses and compares common mortgage rights in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, and Italy to develop a new pan-European model suitable for the 21st century. The author focuses on three aspects: the link between the security right and the secured claim, publicity, and broadening the scope of application. German description: Trotz verschiedener Bestrebungen zur Schaffung einer "Eurohypothek" ist das Recht der Grundpfandrechte bisher eine nationale Domane. Caroline S. Rupp analysiert den aktuellen Stand der Grundpfandrechte Deutschlands, Osterreichs, der Schweiz, Frankreichs und Italiens sowie die Anforderungen, die zu Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts an ein gemeinsames europaisches Grundpfandrecht zu stellen sind. Auf dieser Grundlage entwickelt sie ein neues Modell fur eine "Eurohypothek". Im Vordergrund stehen dabei drei Aspekte: die Verbindung zwischen Grundpfandrecht und gesicherter Forderung (gesetzliche Akzessorietat oder vertragliche Bindung), die mit dem Registerrecht zusammenhangende Publizitat (Ausmass des Verkehrsschutzes) sowie die Erweiterung der Einsatzmoglichkeiten durch zusatzliche "abstrakte" Forderungen und wertpapierrechtliche Konstruktionen.
