From the PREFACE:
In Search of the Lost Poem, like each previously published individual title, covers a designated period of time. It is a method used for creative closure, in order to leave open the door for future endeavors. This particular collection contains poems written between 2013 and 2025, personally termed "A Time of Transition," the seeds of which can be found scattered throughout The Collected Poetry 1969-2012.
As we approached 2012, the general interest in the Mayan Calendar began to intensify. The subject held a personal fascination in the 1970's, although I knew little about its projected ending. The wild speculations about "our" future grabbed my attention. Many articles, books, interviews, etc. were studied in an attempt to make some sense of the frenzy.
During an interview, a Maya Elder, stated something to the effect, that the calendar's end was not the end of the world; it signified entrance into "No Time." Without quantifying its length, he stressed that our personal and collective thoughts and actions will help determine the trajectory of our future.
Being a "Poet Scribe," the Elder's interpretation piqued my interest and found its way into my daily meditations. While The One was days away from publication, the poem "A Time of Opportunity" was completed; its final two lines demanded to be included as a last-minute addition.
Welcome to the time of No Time
In the Land of Opportunity
As we currently look out, attempting to make sense of our world, it appears that many previously accepted boundaries have been shattered; that turmoil and chaos are on the rise. Yet, at the same time, if we look deep within our self, we may discover a rising Consciousness that offers a more appealing path to travel toward Community with Family and Friends.
Let us remember that "Opportunity" is multi-directional. In order to navigate through confusing and transitional periods of time it seems imperative that we each choose our personal Path and Live it.
