Pediatric gastroenterology is a sub-specialty of pediatrics and gastroenterology that is concerned with the treatment of the conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas and the liver in children. Various endoscopic procedures including colonoscopy and esophagogastroduodenoscopy are used to examine the gastrointestinal tract and obtain tissue samples. The management of nutritional problems in children may require interventions such as placing and managing feeding tubes, and facilitation of intravenous nutrition.
