Spiritual connectivity may be one of the most powerful options for those who are addicted. Faith traditions vary and sometimes unintended spiritual judgment by well-intentioned religious people may be less than helpful to those trying to deal with their issues. When I was growing up, staunch religious judgments bothered me a lot, and I always wanted to ask why I was feeling less than comfortable with the concept benefit. I looked outside my faith tradition and found that a lot of ministers were spreading the hell, fire and damnation philosophy. At the time, ministers when talking about the deceased might describe the dead one as a God-Fearing Man (while trying to be complimentary). My reaction to that was always the question, Who, in their right mind, would want to be a God-Fearing Man? Internally, I would always answer that - I am a God Loving Man and still will be.
