Restless Legs Syndrome - RLS and Sleep Apnoea (en Inglés)

$ 2.047Two disorders, one night.
In one study of 490 adults with sleep apnoea, almost one in five also had restless legs syndrome - and only 12 of these 91 had been diagnosed before. Both disorders break the night apart and both cause tiredness. Once one explanation has been found, the second is easily overlooked - and treatment can fail as a result.
This volume shows how to tell the two apart, in which order they are treated, and which RLS medicines call for caution when breathing is disturbed. It says openly where the studies contradict one another, rather than claiming a consensus that does not exist.
A chapter of its own is given to CPAP therapy that does not work: unrecognised restless legs syndrome can be one reason, with an urge to move that makes lying still with a mask very hard.
WHAT IS IN THE BOOK
- What sleep apnoea is and what happens to breathing at night
- How often the two occur together: the honest dispute over the figures
- What the combination does: sleep, mood, mind, heart
- How to notice that more than one disorder is involved
- The stepped plan: when breathing comes first and when the legs do
- When the mask fails, and RLS is the hidden reason
- Which RLS medicines can burden the breathing
- When the tiredness stays: residual sleepiness, and getting safely through the day
WHO THIS BOOK IS FOR
For people with sleep apnoea whose tiredness persists despite the mask, for patients with RLS who snore heavily, and for anyone living with a device who wants to know why it feels unbearable at night.
