Jahrhunderts zu besonderen Anlassen wie Herrschaftsantritt, Hochzeit oder zum Einzug in ihre Schlosser gehuldigt. Er lebe hoch! wurde man nach heutigem Sprachgebrauch sagen. Doch nicht nur das lateinische Vivat! ist heute fast vergessen; auch Huldigungen spielen schon lange keine Rolle mehr. Der Band bringt dieses fruher bedeutende Phanomen und die in diesem Zusammenhang entstandenen prachtvollen Schriften wieder in Erinnerung. Dabei wird auch die Rolle von Vertretern der Weimarer Klassik, wie Friedrich Schiller oder Martin Wieland, betrachtet. Daruber hinaus werden Fragen nach der kunstlerischen Ausstattung, den Buntpapieren, der Kalligraphie und den beteiligten Akteuren beantwortet.
