Reseña del libro "Wealth, Charity, and the Early Christian Benefaction (en Inglés)"
Few subjects occupied a more prominent place in the thought and practice of early Christianity than wealth and its proper use. From the teachings attributed to Jesus of Nazareth to the elaborate charitable institutions of Late Antiquity, questions concerning possessions, poverty, generosity, and social responsibility stood at the center of Christian moral reflection. The earliest Christian communities emerged within a world shaped by profound economic inequalities, where wealth was concentrated in the hands of a relatively small elite and where systems of patronage, dependence, and public benefaction structured much of social life. Against this backdrop, Christians developed a distinctive vision of giving that both drew from existing traditions and transformed them in significant ways. The story of this transformation lies at the heart of the present study.
