This is a poetry and art collection. The poems are spiritual and suitable for both adults and children. The poems inspire and tell the truth. They are written in a conversational style. The author considers her art to be her child playing. Janet is a colorist and uses color to create the drama called life. Objects in her art are delineated by changes in color. The poetry sometimes becomes mystical as she tries to get closer to God in order to understand him better. She manages to bring the spiritual to everyday situations that even children can understand. She doesn't shy away from issues affecting people in modern times. Janet is a native San Diegan, though some of her ancestors who she originally thought were American Indian when she wrote this book, were Middle Eastern or East Asian. She attributes her use of color in her art to this branch of the family. She has seen radical changes in San Diego and America, and she often writes about them. Her poetry is varied in subject matter, and usually her poems are short and to the point.
