Reseña del libro "Working From Bell to Bell: Ten School Comedies (en Inglés)"
Step into the classroom with this collection of 10-minute comedies that delve into school issues that have plagued students, teachers and administrators for decades. The plays can be produced as entire evening of one-acts, on their own or with other period or similar themed plays. Experience the tumultuous 50's and hiding under school desks to the concerns of the 21st century teacher dealing with technology. And of course, like most of J.C. Svec's plays, be ready for any number of plot twists, unique perspectives and surprise endings. "Working From Bell to Bell" includes the following plays: "Duck and Cover"1952. Preparing a class of students for disaster during the Cold War proves redundant with unexpected results."Finger Paints"1965. A chauvinistic and rude father comes to realize the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."The Substitute"1972. A teacher's maternity leave will have to wait when her substitute proves less than capable."The Understudy"1976. A father goes to desperate lengths to keep his word by attending his daughter's third grade class."The Poetry Contest"1980. School pride is on the line during a third grade poetry contest that displays more than just rhyming words and cuteness."So Long, Farewell and Good Riddance"1990. Three teenagers almost succeed in secretly having one of their teachers dismissed."Crimson Moon"2008. A school counselor finally reaches the cause of a teenage girl's problems."The Student Draft"2010. Professional drafts are nothing compared to a trio of teachers recruiting students for next year's classes."Tap Dancing"2012. A school trip to the theatre provides a student, several teachers and the school principal with unforgettable memories."Unplugged"Today. A new school directive is to eliminate the use of technology and all electrical devices. What's a teacher to do?
