In this second volume of his memoirs the author keeps the reader enthralled with his continuing conversational and engaging writing style, evoking the 1970s and providing plenty of contrasting emotions: excitement, laughter, touches of melancholy, sadness, irony, and considerable frustration. And all the while, the central theme of the story - the author's on-going love affair with a young lady from Low Bentham with the story following closely the antics of the two young adults whilst on their journey towards marriage. All told in a genuinely open, honest, witty, and slightly mischievous way. By definition, a memoir is likely to be slightly improper - this doesn't disappoint!
